Notice to all members of Whistler Arts Council and Maurice Young Millennium Place Society

The Whistler Arts Council and Millennium Place are bringing the two organizations together from the recommendations of the "PERC Report". Commissioned last fall, the final report recommended that WAC & MYMPS become one society with one unified staff. The society would be named Whistler Arts Council, be operated by WAC and the building would continue to be called Maurice Young Millennium Place.

The RMOW is now the owner of the building and is taking a greater responsibility for the building maintenance. This will allow the Whistler Arts Council to implement the vision of the Whistler 2020 Arts, Culture and Heritage Task Force to develop MY Place as a hub for arts and culture in Whistler.

The Arts Council staff now works from Millennium Place and the Executive Director of the Arts Council and the General Manager of Millennium Place have jointly hired any new employees.

The Whistler Arts Council has taken on an expanded role - to continue to be a programmer of events and festivals as well as the operator of the building.

Changes to our constitution and bylaws are in progress and will be presented for approval by the membership at an Extraordinary General Meeting, the date to be determined.
