Simon Bedford
Simon Bedford came to live in Pemberton 4 years ago after a life working in the UK as a still photographer and TV graphics cameraman. Through a chance meeting in Mount Currie with a local bull rider, Marlon Williams, he embarked on shototing a series of portraits of First Nation Bull Riders and Pow Wow dancers. These portraits have been shot using natural light on sets built at the Lillooet Lake Rodeo Ground. Starting out as a homage to the pioneering work of Edward Curtis, Joseph Dixon and others at the turn of the 20th century, the collection is also a reflection of a vital aspect of First Nation life today. Some of these prints are on show at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre.
